From TLK2:"I had everything under control!" -Kiara"Not from where I'm standing." -Kovu"Then move downwind." -KiaraTo me, I can't make any sense of that last line other than Kiara didn't want to have his scent around?? Post other lines that make absolutely no sense from either TLK. -Nukta Nukta'sDen - WhereAllLions Are Welcome!"Drop"Me A Gazelle ;) ICQ#85191520

I think when young Kiara says something like,"Hehe,Daddy, letgo," after she's practically back on the ground is prettystupid... Oh yeah, when Kiara and Kovu are running down thathill after those birds they start,"Yeehaa!"ing, especiallyafter the second time Kovu says it you hear Kiara go,"Yeeha!"...Uhgh! "It's not true...TELL ME IT'STRUE!!!"-Sarabi-

I couldn't make any sense out of the Kovu/Kiara confrontation either. may she wants him to back off or something.
Actually, I have a few possible explanations for that "Move downwind" line:1) Lions do have a keen enough sense of smell that they can gather information from scents on the wind. Kiara's telling Kovu that, from where he's standing, he can't get the whole picture about her hunt and thus isn't in a position to critique. She's telling him to "move downwind" in order to get all the facts.2) Standing upwind on a solo hunt is a big no-no (it can, however, be a helpful tactic on a group hunt). Kiara's accusing Kovu of being upwind and thus being the reason why the hunt was spoiled. If he wants to see her real skill, he should get out of the way.3) We're making a Pumbaa joke. From the cut/dropped song "Warthog Raphsody" (found on the "Rhythm of the Pride Lands" CD/tape, which is now out of print but does crop up every now and again on eBay), Timon comments "So long as you stand upwind!" to Simba, refering to Pumbaa (of course). Kiara might have picked up the "move downwind" line from similar banter between her two inept cubsitters.Hope those help. Of course, I could be horribly horribly wrong, but, hey, it's an attempt
Just took a look at my DVD....In the danish version the lines are like this:- I had everything under control.- It diden't look so to me.- Then look more careful. In the norwegian version it's: (Makes less sense than the english...)- I had everything under control- Not the way i saw it.- Then move you nose against the wind.....In the swedish it's:- I had everything undercontrol- Not the way i saw it.- Then you must see bad...I don't quite understand the german version but it goes like this (I'm 99% sure that the 3rd line is correctly translated)- Everything was ok.- I have another opinion ??????- Then you must be blind...To me the norwegian is most close the the english, and makes about as much sense, while the danish, swedish and german version give an idea of, what what the idea with the lines is. Yeah, what's up with the "Yehaws"? Reminds me of my neighbors on a warm sunday morning. I live nextdoor to hillbilly's who turn on the really old twangy country from the '50 while working on cars. Fun eh? Safijaha's Place Safi's Art Safi's Mail!

I know, it's sickening. You almost expect them to say "bardiggity" or something like that. I live around enough hillbillies (even Florida has them). "Yeehaw"... ugh.-Nukta Nukta'sDen - WhereAllLions Are Welcome!"Drop"Me A Gazelle ;) ICQ#85191520

since S.P was made in Australia, some Aussies probably wanted to add in to it. and listen to the music when Nuka starts the fire. It sounds Aussiish. "yee-hah!, rounding up Rhinos!" - Kovu (maybe)

I don't like it in Simba's Pride how Timon and Pumbaa say things like, "Somebody's gotta get a beeper for this kid!" I don't like them using human things in Lion King movies.
Hmm, and the rumored boomerang woulden't have been better....... You'r right, human things dosen't beling there, but then again it's disney, it's a DTV, it's a sequal.... What could you expect? In the Canadian French version, they say youpie (translation: yippie) instead of yeehaw. That makes more sense than that hillbilly stuff. I hadn't checked the Latin American Spanish version, though (aren't DVD's great!). As for those stupid lines, I have no idea about the French and Spanish translations of it, because I'm not proficient enough in either language.

There came a translation in mind...When Timon and Pumbaa went after young Kiara and frightened her into the lake and Pumbaa jumped after her... *takes a
eath* Timon shouts a little later: "Pumbaa, let me define babysitting!" Now babysitting in in finish lapsenvahtia= in english (straight) watching over a child. So in the finish version the sentence goes a little bit like this: "Pumba (Yes in finish he has only ONE a), you don't do this job sitting!" So you can see the problem... Marcus looked back up at the statue of Valen and wondered. And he couldn't help remember what the Minbari always said. That Valen would return someday. -To Dream in the City of Sorrows
I the danish version it's excately the same as the english. I haven't checked Swedish and norwegian. Yes DVD's are great! Webmaster of TLK Lyrics InternationalSorry online status that was here in the past has been removed due to ezboard restrictions :(!!!!Click to .

This translation stuff is pretty interesting. I thought the way they handled the babysitting pun in Finnish was good, because instead of ignoring the joke, they adapted it.

the Lionking is my favourite film. I love the way it deals with cruelty. Not as much a problem with the lines but early on Mufassa is aggressive towards scar because he turns his back on him. Is that really appropriate, it just didn't seem right or virtuous. you should be able to turn your back on anyone, or am i wrong?Liam
Hehe petit, in denmark we use the word babysiting too, so the joke works here too Webmaster of TLK Lyrics InternationalSorry online status that was here in the past has been removed due to ezboard restrictions :(!!!!Click to .

Oh you lucky ppl. I thik finish is a odd language... There are many words what can be twisted into many things... And if you compare to other languages, we have our own words... I mean a word with two words in it.. Like babysittin for example. But it's still Finland and I am not ashamed of it.... Marcus looked back up at the statue of Valen and wondered. TLK:Sp had numerous moments where lines didn't make any sense. And take the cut scenes into account as well.PUMBAA: Hakuna Matata!*TIMON: Outlands, shmoutlands... this place is better than Disneyland!Okay, when did Timon learn of the Outlands, and why is Pumbaa saying Hakuna Matata just after Timon told him that a new motto was needed (because it was a sequel), is it because Simba learned when to take Hakuna Matata into account of the event taking place? Nothing makes sense here. And many times in the movie, Simba is confused and sure of himself at the same time, all the time. Weird... Master of the Mobian Realm, I am The Sonic God.President, CEO, and Founder of the Ultimate Gamers Community

Did anyone notice in the original lionking that there were strangely very few male lions hanging around. Infact the only ones i spotted in the film were Simba, Mufassa and Scar. Maybe i'm wrong, this seems weirdliam
The Sonic God
23.04.2001, 07:36
No, it's not weird.Mufasa, Simba, Kovu, Nuka, and Scar were the ONLY MALE LIONS. 5. That's it.In the animal kingdom, one or two Pride Males take control of the pride. They do little work, get the biggest share of the meal, and mate 30 times a day with a lioness in heat.Males serve very little purpose otherwise.Okay, so it is weird. Master of the Mobian Realm, I am The Sonic God.President, CEO, and Founder of the Ultimate Gamers Community

Well if Mufasa and Scar had spotted any other male lions around there would have been a few more fight scenes. *L*About the "turning your back" thing. I think that was included to set up the fact that the Pride is indeed a monarchy. You would never turn your back on your king without being dismissed. And even then chances are you would back up a respectable distance first before turning around. Secondly it gives the viewer early on a sense that there is tension between Mufasa and Scar. They aren't buddy buddy in the least despite being
others. It lets you know that something's just not right. Just my two cents.
Nukta Kupaya

if Mufasa and Scar (Taka) got along, then Scar goes and kills Mufasa, that would leave people scratching their heads, with a "What the heck just happened?!" expression. By showing the viewers that their relationship wasn't on the best terms (ie, they didn't get along that well), it makes it easier for Scar's plan of killing his
other to get through to us. So when we know there's tension, and it finally ending at Mufasa's untimely death, it adds a sense of realism to the picture.-Nukta
Back to the translation thing, I saw the German version of SP earlier than the English one, and the things that annoyed me most were all those Timon-and-Pumba-jokes about human stuff. Like playing lotto, billard, buying furniture... Most of that stuff has never been in the English version, and I am glad to have the choice now.

Yeah, that's strange. Another thing is that the only cubs in the whole pride were Simba and Nala, and in TLK2, there was only Kiara. In real life, per pride-or per litter! ~Larani

In TLK there was supposed to have been another male cub named Meetoo(I think that's right!) and a little fox Simba was supposed to play with.(I forgot it's name.) "It's not true...TELL ME IT'STRUE!!!"-Sarabi-

Correct, Sarabi! There was supposed to be a bat-eared fox and another cub. In the scene where Simba goes to wake Mufasa up, you can spot two (or three) cubs sleeping among the lionesses.-Nukta

Disney leaves a few "Easter Eggs" in their movies. Hidden features that links one movie to another. As for planetarion, I don't know what that is.I reviewed something...out of context, but anyone notice that Zira's "hole-punched" ear switches sides frequently during the movie? Master of the Mobian Realm, Ambassador of the Pridelands, I am infinite, I am the savior, I am The Sonic God.President, CEO, and Founder of the Ultimate Gamers Community

In one of the Aladdin movies (not 100% sure, but I think that it was Aladdin And The king of theives) there's a sceen where Genie turns into Pumbaa and utters the line "Hakuna Mutata!" Aldaddin looks at him, saying "what?" Genie responds with "whoa, out of movie experience." Also, In Toy Story, when Woody, Buzz, and RC are trying to get back to the moving truck, the scene switches to a cut of Andy's little sister as she sees the toys reflected in the window. In the background, "Hakuna Mutata" is playing on the car radio.
