I don't know many things about Taka: only that Taka is Scar, but he didn't really want to kill Mufasa...right? Well, I know that all came from a storybook: where I can find scans or more about the story -no fan fiction, only the text of the storybook-?

I've been wondering about the origin of Taka too....and I didn't know it came from a book. I'd really like to see it to. Do you know what it's called? !¡**I am by myself once again, but as I gaze into the stars above, I realize: We are never alone. Remember the past. Seize the present. Wait for the future.**¡!

The storybook where the name originates is part of a children's book series called The Lion King: 6 New Adventures. The book is called Tale of Two Brothers and it takes place when Taka and Muffy are still cubs. The main factor of this book says that Taka/Scar got his scar froma run-in with a Cape Buffalo, which doesn't make sense if you ask me. His Scar is distictivly a claw mark, which is obviously somthing a buffalo doesn't have. I don't have the book personally, but maybe if the ever-elusive Snowy comes along she'd be able to help.As for Taka not really wanting to kill Mufasa, that's where fan speculation comes in. That's where the rant about Taka/Scar fans comes in, since Taka is more of a loving, sentimental character than Scar was in the movie. The fact is, the only reason I'd use the name is cause it makes more sense to name a cub Taka (to wish in swahili) than it does "Scar." Unless his scar was something he had since birth. (Which, as stated, is not true to TLK: 6NA.) All hail the gray spherical one. I found it ! I really wish I had this set of books. It does tell the origin of Taka's Scar, but it also has other stories. There's one about Nala meeting outlander cubs while she was still a cub. I wish I could read it. Oh well. Here's a pic of the set for ya Epantiras!www.catsnthings.com/lionking/sixnew.jpgGuess what ?!!? There's one book in the set about Simba's SON!!! Wonder why he wasn't in SP. Edited by: Azima Masi at: 9/1/01 12:42:38 am

It seems to me that all heck
oke loose when they tried to make sequels/prequals for TLK.There is no surefire solid sequel that can best fit TLK, even The Lion King 2.I wonder if Simba's son in that book would be Tanabi...or is that just CotPL?It is true, that Lions in real life can have multiple litters of cubs.

wow! finaly got a look at the TLK6Na! thanks Azima!. looks like Kopa(Simba's son) looke exactly like young Simba Hmm?. too bad you didn't have a pic of young Scar . considering Lions are a social group it's possible for Lions to have multiple litters. Boy, I've been called "The Mysterious Snowy" and now "the ever-elusive Snowy." Am I really that hard to get in touch with? Just a few amendments to what Rockerbot said:It didn't quite take place when they were cubs; Mufasa and Taka were, I'm guessing, closer to two-and-a-half years old. And as for the Cape Buffaloes, well, the wound came from a horn, which could, technically, cause that kind of vertical slit, but with the origin at the bottom of the wound, as opposed to the top (like Kovu's). *shrug* Either way, it was a clean, sharp cut that would leave a scar like that.I've talked to some of the Scar fans who swear against the name Taka like you would not believe (right down to the point of some of them saying that TLK:6NA is a rumor and that authors of fanfics that use the name Taka should be stoned until they change their fics). The impression that I've gotten -- and have had confirmed in one instance -- is that, yes, as Rockerbot said, Taka is more "cuddley," which doesn't fly with how they perceive Scar. Unfortunately, there's nothing from Disney itself to validate that view, TLK:6NA portraying Taka as an angsty teen version of Scar. I say "unfortunately" not because I like the idea of there being this super-cuddley side of Scar, but because there have been some harsh words said on both sides of an argument that is based solely upon fan perceptions. If there were something from Disney that warranted the belief that Taka is so darn huggable, then perhaps the argument wouldn't seem so like -- forgive me Trekkies -- the battles over which Captain is better. And, yeah, Simba's son in TLK:6NA (one Kopa by name, as was stated earlier by Starlioness) does bear a striking resemblence to Simba. What gets me is the fact that here is evidence that the idea of the puff on top of the head a la Kovu existed long before SP (the copyrights on TLK:6NA is '94, if memory serves). Ah well.... yes, Snow, your'e as mysterious as the white wolf from Balto . but anyway .I'd have to think that Kopa is a precarnation of Kovu . considering Snowy's commnet and judging. her pic with Vitani and Kopa , very good I might add... it might be possible that Young Kovu and Kopa have the artist/animator. I think. on a Sidenote, Snowy did you ever get my e-mail?*waits six months to find out*

:: takes a look at how long it took her to reply, plus all the calls of "did you get my email" :: Drat, I guess I am kinda hard to get in contact with. Gonna need to work on that. Thanks, Starlioness I don't think it was the same artist who came up with both designs -- Kopa's and Kovu's -- and considering Disney's lack of acknowledgement of Kopa's existence in regards to SP, I wonder if the SP crew even knew that he does exist. It's possible that both thought that the best way to distinguish between cub Simba and cub Kovu would be that distinctive bit of fluff. Or, I wonder, if possibly it figured somewhere in early designs for Simba himself and both teams -- TLK:6NA and SP -- decided to draw upon that. One can only really guess at this point, though I think I recall seeing somewhere an early drawing of Simba where he did have a fluff, even if not so pronounced as Kopa's or Kovu's. I'll have to see if I can find that pic again anywhere.Email, email, email...the one about the Easter pic, right? Yeah, I got it, thanks for the reminder. There is a smaller version, but it's on a zip disk at the moment (computer purge, I managed to fill up the harddrive, hehe ). Need to dig that out and find it.Hmm, sorry Mahtiki, I stopped taking requests a looong time ago; I was simply inundated with them. People still ask and, to be completely honest, I've just gotten tired of saying the same thing over and over again.Well, Edpride, just read through the thread, since most of it's stated there already and it would be somewhat silly to say it all over again Btw, I like your signature. Much as I despise that show (or, probably more precisely, that woman), it's an amusing sig. I could see it happening Watch out world, Snowy's got a web page! *click click*
