Who here is a Balto fan? Personally, I'm angling to get Balto on LaserDisc for Christmas. My parents don't understand my choice in movies, but I'll get it with a little bit of luck. It's available at a store near my Grandma's housre and we'll be down for the anuual family Christmas party on the 16th. I haven't seen it for a while, but I know I like it, and I really want to see my LD collection grow, so this lokks like a good title to me. It is also unavailable on DVD, like TLK, so that's a plus for getting the LD in my book. So, what are your thoughts on Balto? And does anyone else use TaskWolf? I got it a few days ago I think it's great. It is an organisation tool.- NA

I have severe reservations about Balto II. Sure, it sounds cool, but sequels are usually just for money, and Balto didn't do so well at the Box Office, so the sequel is gonna be low budget. Sad. Also, none of the original cast is returning! Mark Hammil apparantly has some role. Frankly, that just screams low budget, although he isa very good voice actor. I figure he'll voice Balto. I don't know, maybe the people working on it really care and they'll do a good job. Or maybe we should just call it Balto: Simba's Pride. I hope not, but anything could happen. As to fav chars, I of course like Balto's heroic shyness and lonliness, sort of like me, and Star is cute in a goofy way, sort of like I can be sometimes.Oh, I also like how Steele gets finished in the end. He doesn't die, he just gets abandoned so dies metaphorically. Quite refreshing.- NAOnly six days till Christmas!

Hi everyone!Well, after being so strongly influenced by the rest of TLK fandom, I have finally seen Balto. The beginning of the movie struck me as a bit weird. Like Sequelo, I found that live-action beginning and ending just out of place. But as for the rest of the movie, I thought it was really good, and that the movie's definently worth repeated viewings. I also really liked that endling, where Steele was shot down figuratively, not physically. What a change from the usual cliched endings of movies!Overall, the movie shows a lot of strength, and that it's not only Disney who can make quality animated films (but we know that already. Dreamworks has been turning out good movies.) But one question still bothers me...*why* is Balto so popular with other TLK fans? The movie had no relation to TLK, on story level, or even the emotional level. So what exactly is going on here?

Balto and TLK are sorta similar. Outcast characters, good story. Oh, I'm just pulling aat straws! Some things just fit and TLK and Balto seem to snap together nicely. Don't question fate, or it will question you.- NA

Hm, yes, good point. But even still, I think that Balto is nowhere nearly as good as TLK.

Its greatbut I do have a slight problem when it comes to "Balto"I know of a song called it better than the movie"Balto" a song from the Xenogears arranged soundtrack, 'Xenogears CREID' that is a remix/combination of "Bonds of Sea and Fire" (Bart's Theme) and "Ancient Dance" (Music played in Bleadivik, capital of Aveh).I've made a wallpaper inspired by that song toohttp://www.lionking.org/~moogle/Files/Wall/balto.jpgbut the movie Balto is very good too REDMOOGLEXIII's Web PageWhen you look into the Abyss, the Abyss looks into you.

I love Balto!!! A long time ago, on Easter, I got Babe on video, and my sister got Balto on video. And after watching both movies, I was SO jealous!! ^_^; I wanted Balto!! Balto is one of my favorite movies. (I wanted to see it in the theaters, but I never got to) I hope the sequel will be good. Was the sequel made in Europe? Because in Europe, they get it this summer, and I, (and other Balto fans that live in the US) have to wait till next year. =( Why can‘t it just be released the at the same time everywhere? (Wow, lots of TLK fans like Balto)Quote: "Or maybe we should just call it Balto: Simba's Pride."lol NordicAurora ^_^ "Remember who you are..."

Yeah, why couldn't it? Oh well can't change how the works. The basic storyline for Balto II is a story between Balto and his daughter, who looks more like a wolf then he does. It's something along the lines of SP, but from what I've heard this is going to be a pretty good sequel. Can't wait to see it. Now if we could only get Balto on DVD....

Balto is a movie about a dog/wolf named Balto. It's based on a true story about a husky dog named Balto who rescues a lot of people by carrying diptheria (I can't spell)medicine to Nome, Alaska. In the movie, Balto is half wolf half husky. He doesn't feel he fits in. He likes a girl husky named Jenna, but another husky named Steele(a baddie) likes her too. So you see the conflict. Well, The children of Nome start getting sick so medicine is sent from Anchorage, Alaska to Nome by dogsled. There's a terrible blizzard and Balto, as the lead dog, must lead the team to Nome before many people die. I've seen it but once, but I love it so much! Edited by: Larani the lioness at: 6/5/01 6:14:16 pm

Ya know what the problem with Balto is? It's a winter movie, it is hard to watch all that snow in the middle of spring or summer, yet come the fall, Balto's back.- NA
